Star Wars: Battlefront Review!

Star Wars: Battlefront is a FPS/TPS made by popular and well-known Developer, DICE. Known mainly for their work on the Battlefield series. So far, this game is in the middle for me.

Darth Vader fucking shit up!

While there is a lot of replay value to this game as it is a mainly online oriented game, there are somethings that make me feel like if I were to buy it, I would use it as more of a go between game. Let me start by saying, the game play is solid for the most part, while I am a Battlefront Veteran so I’m used to playing this game solely in Third-Person and i find it a little difficult to play this one in Third-Person because the camera feels clunky to me, but the fact that you can switch shoulders is quite nice. Now on to the gun play, it feels very solid and I have to say that I rather enjoy it. There is no ammo seeing as you’re using energy weapons but they can and most definitely will overheat, and something like cool off can put you into a rough spot if facing enemies but if you can do a coolant flush(like an Active Reload from the Gears of War series) then you could easily take the kill right from out of the enemies feet. Which is an amazing feeling by the way! As you continue to play the game and level up you start unlocking various card unlocks which grant you different weapons and grenades among other things. And in order to unlock those cards you have to use in-game currency that you gain by completing challenges and just doing well in the match and I have to say. I really like this approach, it awards you for doing well, and it’s kinda hard not to do well. With my entire time playing the 10 hour Early Access I was getting on average 800-1200 points per match. Which is a little steep seeing as most of the earlier cards only run about 500 points at most.

maxresdefaultNow, let us move onto the story, there is none…. Which is slightly disappointing to me. With that said, there are little missions that you can do, either alone or with a partner which are quite fun, they range from holding a base from being taken over by Storm Troopers or you may have to actually overtake an occupied base. And then you have the survival mode, it’s pretty much a horde mode that is actually quite fun, and if played on the right difficulty, quite challenging. Me personally, I am a huge fan of the survival mode that is in this game, it give you and a friend something to do together and dying and killing is just always better when you have a friend to dick around with. Lets move onto the PvP aspect of this game (the main reason most of you will be getting it). It’s fun, there are quite a few game modes to choose from and I can guarantee you that one of them will definitely fit your needs and play styles. In my favorite mode, It pits 20v20 against each other on a large map and the objective is to capture multiple points on the map, as your team captures more points, the opposition gets pushed back further and further and vice versa. And then my second favorite would be Walker Assault, which is very similar to the previous one except in Walker Assault on team Defends and the other team is Attacking. The Attacking team’s job is to prevent the Defending team from capturing certain points on the map that allow accurate missile strikes on your Walkers. While doing all of this you can find random drops that include bubble shields, turrets, various power weapons, vehicles, and my personal favorite… Heroes/Villains. Depending what side you are on dictates which hero or villain you play as. If you’re on the Light side with the Rebels you’ll get to play with the likes of Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and a few others I won’t spoil for you.

Star-Wars-Battlefront-Gameplay-ReviewAll in all, this game is not bad. It’s average, if you’re a Star Wars fan; you definitely want to buy this because the Audio and all of the settings that are in this game will give you the orgasm of your life. Everything from the sound of the pistols and rifles firing and the grenades as they prepare to go off just all sounds great! And then with the huge AT-ATs are stomping around you and you feel the ground quaking beneath your feet just all adds that wonderful atmosphere. I’d be hard pressed to tell someone not to get this game if you are a Star Wars nut. However, if you don’t like Star Wars or you aren’t a huge fan of the series, I’m not going to say pass on the title all together, but I will caution you to try your best to find it on sale or even pre-owned. At least that way if you do figure out you don’t like it, you can easily return it with no issues. Also, if you have an Xbox One and are on the fence about this game, go spend the 5 bucks to get EA Access for a month and you’ll get a free 10 hour full trial of the game. That’s what I did, and I’m glad I did, I was on the fence with this game after the beta because it felt very bare. Very limited number of weapons (which they did beef up that list) and a lot of things were shut off. But I have decided that I was going to wait and pick it up during Black Friday or when ever it goes on sale. Now, one last thing, to all of you Battlefront players, don’t go into it expecting what you guys had on PC, if you do that you’ll find yourself very disappointed. But instead go into as a reboot of the series, starting from scratch almost. If you do that, I can almost guarantee you that you will have fun with this game. Also guys and gals! Don’t forget to let me know what you think of the game if you’ve played it!

Fun, but not quite there.
